About Joshua Michaell, M.A., MFT
For more than two decades, I’ve helped individuals and organizations cultivate resilience, steadiness, and a deeper sense of meaning. I am a licensed and board-certified marriage and family therapist. My approach is holistic, drawing from depth psychology, systems thinking, and the timeless wisdom traditions of the East.
With a background in yoga and meditation, I bring a contemplative lens to healing—one that honors the mind and emotions while attuning to the deeper harmonics of presence, purpose, and balance.

counseling within the tech world
In addition to my private practice, I’ve worked extensively with healthcare and technology organizations. I co-founded the mental health program at One Medical, supported Trust & Safety and Child Safety teams at Twitter/X for more than a decade, and currently provide counseling and resiliency support to teams at OpenAI. I also serve as Leadership & Resiliency Advisor for Data Solutions, partnering with senior leadership on culture, well-being, and sustainable performance.
Formal Education
I received my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in the San Francisco Bay Area, and studied East–West Psychology at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. I completed my undergraduate studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
